NEED AN EXERCISE
PROGRAM?

Have one specifically designed for you, based on a thorough biomechanical assessment

SERVICES

Anna strives to deliver a high standard of professional care to her patients. With consistent achievement of excellence in her ongoing studies and over 20 years of experience in the field of physiotherapy, Anna is well qualified to assist you in achieving optimal health.

She has a special interest in somatic symptoms related to unresolved trauma, as well as complex conditions that involve multiple systems in the body (central nervous system, autonomic nervous system, immune, endocrine and neuromusculoskeletal systems). These conditions and syndromes require  a more complex and layered management plan, which often involves a multidisciplinary team. This management plan serves to educate the patient and empower them on their healing journey.

Anna is also very happy to treat patients with acute pain, injuries and conditions that primarily involve the nerves, muscles, ligaments, joints and fascia. She loves looking at the bigger picture when it comes to structural issues. If you come with knee pain, she will assess your posture, alignment, strength, flexibility, balance and control, not just around the knee, but in relation to your entire body. In this way, she is treating not only the knee pain, but also the global biomechanical issues that contributed to tissue overload surrounding the knee. She is particularly interested in how the nervous system controls posture and movement within the context of the surrounding environment.

Integrative
Physiotherapy

  • Management of complex conditions such as chronic fatigue. POTS, dysautonomia, long covid, panic attacks, functional neurological disorder, frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) and persistent pain.

  • Assessment and treatment of acute injuries and chronic conditions (joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, connective tissue, nerve)

  • Manual therapy to facilitate pain modulation, joint mobility, capacity of neural structures to glide, myofascial release and release of cranial fascia

  • Posture and functional movement assessment

  • Exercise rehabilitation - balance, proprioception, muscle recruitment, muscle strength, flexibility and mobility

  • Dry needling and laser

  • Functional proprioceptive wedging for shoes (short-term)

Trauma-informed
Somatic Therapy

  • Learn how to feel safe in your body through orientation practices, grounding/embodiment practices and positive resourcing.

  • Develop your awareness of  interoception (the felt sense).

  • Practice shifting focus away from disturbing emotions, feelings and sensations (reduce hypervigilance and overwhelm).

  • Become aware of micro-movements within your body.

  • Allow your body to safely discharge trauma (release the  tension of chronic fight/flight activation).

  • Allow your body to move slowly out of the 'freeze' survival strategy.

  • Empower yourself with knowledge. Learn about the vagus nerve, the autonomic nervous system,  polyvagal theory (Stephen Porges), pain neuroscience and the importance of breath.

Myofascial Release
Cranial Fascia Release
Dry Needling

  • Release tension along the myofascial lines

  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (for muscle relaxation)

  • Treat connective tissue trauma caused by shock, injury, impact or surgery

  • Minimise adhesions and scarring

  • Treat cording following radiation therapy

  • Direct & indirect (biodynamic) fascial release techniques

  • Selective soft tissue techniques

  • Osteopathic and craniosacral techniques

  • Cranial fascia release

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Cupping

  • Dry needling

  • Laser therapy for soft tissue healing and enhanced mitochondrial function
