INTEGRATIVE PHYSIOTHERAPY
A holistic approach to navigating health challenges
Let's look at the bigger picture!
Empowering you to understand your body
What does a 'holistic' and 'integrative' approach to physiotherapy actually mean?
An integrative approach will not only assess and treat the symptom itself (such as pain or an injury), but also thoroughly explore all the contributing factors. A biopsychosocial health model considers the impact of biological, psychological and social factors on your health and your experience of well-being. The more you understand, the more empowered you feel to navigate your health challenges.
Some of the factors that impact your physical health and the experience of being in your body

Anna enjoys working within a multi disciplinary team, in which each practitioner brings their unique skill set to the support an individual on their healing journey.

TRAUMA-INFORMED
SOMATIC THERAPY
Anna has a special interest in working with the body-emotion-mind connection, particularly how stress and trauma impact health. She supports very gentle and gradual release of trauma held in the body with patient-centered body awareness practices, autonomic nervous system regulation strategies and biodynamic myofascial release techniques.
She is interested in complex health challenges such is functional neurological disorder, chronic fatigue, long covid, POTS, dysautonomia, persistent pain and other 'unexplainable' symptoms.

Anna's
Philosophy
Your body is an incredibly intelligent, dynamic, living system that is extremely adaptable and has an innate capacity to heal.
When we plant a seed, we do not need to make the seed grow. The seed has an innate intelligence that knows exactly what to do. We simply need to provide the right conditions to support this process. The same philosophy applies to healing. Your body knows how to heal. My role is to support you in creating the right conditions for healing to occur.
Your body speaks to you. It sends you subtle messages (in the way of symptoms) long before a health condition becomes dire. We all need to reconnect with our bodies, develop the capacity to turn our awareness inward and listen to the wisdom within.
Your physical body cannot be separated from your thoughts, emotions, feelings and deeper sense of self. All aspects of your being are interconnected and directly impact each other.
Your health has been shaped by a lifetime of experiences, choices, belief systems, behaviours, social and environmental influences.
What are your postural habits and movement strategies? How well do you breathe?
Which coping strategies and protective defences have you adopted? How do these strategies impact your body?
How have your life experiences impacted you (physically, physiologically, emotionally, psychologically)?
Have you experienced trauma, injury, previous health crises or loss (physical, emotional, psychological)? Have these experiences been processed?
What is your capacity to cope with stress?
What are your beliefs and attitudes about yourself, your body and your health? How do these beliefs inform your choices when it comes to self-care and health.
True healing involves a willingness to explore and address all these factors. This process is deeply empowering and restores a sense of autonomy and sovereignty within oneself.
You experience life through your body. Your body allows you to relate to others and to interact with the world around you. Cultivating an awareness of your inner experiences (sensations, feelings and movement impulses) connects to your authentic sense of self. As you change your relationship with your body, your experience of life changes.
